Patrice Trudeau in Papua New Guinea – Empathic Induction

Patrice Trudeau in Papua New Guinea – Empathic Induction

I can’t believe that I’m actually here!

This destination is about as rare and far out as it gets. And I’ve never personally met anyone who has traveled here. Actually, I don’t think anyone I have ever met has ever known someone who has travelled here.

That’s pretty unreal. In a good way. In a world that has become over-globalized, it’s nice to know there are still places like this.

I view all worldly travels as opportunities for deeper empathic induction.

Every time, I am reminded of one of my favorite quotes:

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.

Mark Twain

I don’t have much time here, and I will be very busy while I’m here, but I’m happy to at least catch a glimpse in person.

I will fill you in on more details once I have more experiences to share. So check back soon if you want to hear more about my time here.

For now, here are a couple quick snapshots I took:

Okay I’m Back! Let’s Talk About The Land

One thing that is instantly apparent in Papua New Guinea is that it is completely abundant with life. The vibrancy of this land is unlike anything I’ve ever seen before.

It’s as if every shade of the green on the planet seems to exist on this one island!

It’s a surreal feeling and sight, and I am so grateful to be able to experience it first hand. I can only imagine the infinite beauty that these islands have hiding beneath their canopies.

The land is incredibly fertile, which is one of the reasons why the flora is so lush here. One of the locals told me that the land is so ready to produce more life that when you throw a vegetable or fruit on the ground, it is likely that it will sprout into a plant not long after!

I guess it makes sense then that I had the best tasting fruit I’ve ever had by far. Seriously though: best-tasting fruit of my life.

And it makes sense. Fertile ground, straight from the tree, no mass production, no chemicals, etc.

I’m very happy that this chain of islands still remains a haven for plant and animal life.

A Time of Discovery

Slowly I am discovering life here at a different rhythm – flavors, smells, and colors that I’ve never seen before.

I can’t wait to explore this part of the world. Both the land, and the interaction with the people who seem nice, humble, and welcoming.

All of the images that I’ve seen about Papua New Guinea are from the National Geographic. So it feels like I just jumped through the screen, and now I’m experiencing it first hand. It’s a shock.

Funny Side Note

You might not even believe me when I tell you this, but I’m not kidding…not only did I have the best fruit of my life, but I also had the best…pizza of my life here!

I know, it sounds crazy, right?!

I was in shock too because I would never have even thought I would be eating pizza here in the first place.

But locals told me that the best pizza in the world was found here, so of course that got my attention.

They took me to a place that you couldn’t even tell made pizza. It was just Just simply outstanding. In the middle of the “bush” (aka the jungle), here stands the #1 contender in the world for best pizza.

you’d have to eat it to believe it

This was such a pleasant and strange surprise that left me with a smile.
