Island Induction Part 2 – Patrice Trudeau

There are few feelings that compare to looking out to the ocean from shore

Welcome to part two of my island induction in Papua New Guinea.

Wow, there are just so many things to talk about.

It has been such an incredible experience that I am eternally grateful for having the chance to take part in. These islands have inspired me, and they have opened my heart, mind, and spirit.

The people, the land, the plants, the animals…the atmosphere here is so unique, so layered, full of such variety, and so raw.

The Animal Life

Speaking of animals, I have seen so many birds of different colors here.

I saw some birds that were mainly red but that had so many other colors on them it was hard to believe my eyes at first.

They were somewhat like parrots, but they weren’t parrots. I’m not sure exactly what they were, but what I do know is that they were amazing.

I recall seeing the BBC nature documentary, Planet Earth, and I believe they showed the birds of paradise of Papua New Guinea, so I did have some idea of just how unreal the bird life is here, but I was not prepared to experience it first hand.

It’s truly a spectacle and something special to witness. Not only the colors, but the sounds dancing in the treetops and bouncing around the thick jungle.

I would love to have more time to explore the plant and animal life here throughout the various islands. The abundance is out of this world.

More Than Just Birds

But it’s not only the bird life that shocked me. It was also what was in the water…

Anywhere you look in the water, there are tons of fish with just as many colors as the birds!

I was totally hypnotized  by the fish as I was looking into the water. The colors and also the sheer number of fish.

There were so many fish that it almost felt as if I could walk on them.

In fact, fish is one of the main national resources. The quantity of fish is totally amazing, and the fish market is something else because of this.

Unfortunately, other countries want to exploit this natural resource…so let’s hope that this does NOT happen 🙏

I wonder what the fresh water life is like here.

Unforgettable Growth

My induction into the islands of Papua New Guinea has been something I will never forget, and is something that certainly added to who I am as a person and how I view the world.

I feel more connected, more open, more loving.

It’s truly a beautiful thing to travel, to interact with humans on different sides of this wonderful planet, to walk at a different pace, to feel the energy of it all.

There is so much more I could say, but for now I will leave it here.

For your imagination to take over and guide you down your own unique path of wonder.

Continue to follow me as I travel to new places, meet new people, and document the process.
